From Maranello comes a new chapter in Ferrari’s evolving interpretation of the high-performance four-seater, as the Prancing Horse introduces the Handling Speciale configuration for the Ferrari Purosangue. This latest enhancement does not reinvent the car so much as it refines its instincts, sharpening its responses and deepening its sporting character while carefully preserving the versatility that defines Ferrari’s first four-door, four-seat model.
At its core, the Purosangue in Handling Speciale specification remains anchored by the same fundamental architecture that set it apart in the luxury performance landscape. The naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 sits in a front-mid position, paired with a rear-mounted gearbox in a transaxle layout, maintaining near-perfect weight distribution and a driving balance that feels unmistakably Ferrari. What changes is how this platform now reacts to the driver’s intent, with engineers focusing on precision, immediacy and a more tightly wound sense of control.
A recalibrated active suspension system plays a central role in this evolution, reducing body movements by around 10 percent. The result is a noticeably more compact and composed feel when the road tightens or direction changes come quickly, allowing the Purosangue to settle into corners with greater confidence and exit them with heightened clarity. Steering inputs feel more directly translated into motion, reinforcing the sense that the car is working in closer dialogue with its driver.
The enhancements continue through the transmission and control systems, where revised shift strategies bring faster, more assertive gear changes. In performance-focused driving modes such as Race and ESC-Off, the response becomes more immediate and purposeful, particularly under hard acceleration. When engaged in manual mode at higher engine speeds, above 5,500 rpm, shifts take on a more deliberate sporting edge, reinforcing driver involvement at the upper reaches of the V12’s range.
Sound, too, has been carefully reworked. The cabin experience now carries a more pronounced acoustic signature, particularly at ignition and during acceleration, allowing the naturally aspirated V12 to express itself with greater theatre without overwhelming the refined character of the interior.
Visually, the Handling Speciale configuration distinguishes itself with subtle but purposeful design cues. Newly designed wheels with a diamond-cut finish introduce a more technical aesthetic, while carbon fibre side shields, matt black exhaust tips, a black rear Prancing Horse emblem and satin Ferrari script all contribute to a darker, more performance-oriented presence. A dedicated interior plaque confirms the configuration, reinforcing its exclusivity without disrupting the Purosangue’s elegant proportions.
Despite these enhancements, the essence of the Purosangue remains intact. It continues to offer full four-seat accommodation, an elevated driving position that still feels intrinsically sporty, and cabin usability suited to daily life. Its practicality is underscored by a 473-litre boot and a 100-litre fuel tank, ensuring it remains as capable in routine use as it is on open, challenging roads.
Performance figures remain uncompromised, with the V12 delivering 725 cv at 7,750 rpm and 716 Nm of torque across a broad 3,000 to 5,750 rpm band. Acceleration stays formidable, with 0 to 100 km/h achieved in 3.3 seconds and a top speed exceeding 310 km/h, reinforcing its position as one of the most capable naturally aspirated high-riding performance cars in existence.
Underpinning it all is Ferrari’s SSC 8.0 vehicle dynamics system, integrating advanced technologies such as 4RM-S evo all-wheel drive logic, F1-Trac, ABS Evo with Grip Estimation 2.0 and the Ferrari active suspension system. Together, they ensure that the Handling Speciale configuration enhances driver confidence without diluting the Purosangue’s natural balance.
Ferrari’s commitment to ownership experience is further reflected in its Genuine Maintenance programme, included across the range. Covering scheduled servicing for the first seven years, it ensures the Purosangue remains in peak condition through regular maintenance at 20,000 km intervals or annually, regardless of mileage. With original parts, advanced diagnostics and technician training rooted in Maranello, the programme reinforces Ferrari’s long-term dedication to performance integrity and customer assurance.
The Purosangue Handling Speciale does not seek to change what the car is, but rather to heighten what it already does so well. It is a more focused expression of Ferrari’s modern philosophy, where everyday usability and uncompromising performance are not opposing ideas, but two sides of the same continuously sharpened edge.
