BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of new-energy vehicles, has unveiled its latest technological breakthrough – the Super e-Platform. This revolutionary electric vehicle (EV) architecture eliminates charging anxiety by achieving refuelling speeds comparable to traditional combustion engines. With world-first innovations and record-breaking performance metrics, the Super e-Platform redefines electric mobility and reinforces China’s leadership in global electrification technology.
Lightning-Fast Charging: The End of Range Anxiety
At the heart of the Super e-Platform is its unprecedented charging capability. The platform enables a charging power of one megawatt (1,000kW), setting the highest peak charging speed for mass-production vehicles. This allows an astonishing range gain of two kilometres per second—translating to a five-minute flash charge for 400 kilometres of driving range.
To achieve such remarkable speeds, the Super e-Platform integrates an advanced 1,000V vehicle architecture, aligning EV charging times with those of refuelling conventional gasoline cars. This development marks a critical milestone in the push for ‘oil-electric parity’—a concept that could revolutionise the EV market by eradicating one of the last remaining barriers to mass EV adoption.
Record-Breaking Performance Metrics
Beyond its charging capabilities, the Super e-Platform delivers exceptional performance. The single power motor outputs 580kW, enabling a top speed exceeding 300 km/h in its debut models—the China-market HAN L and TANG L. The secret behind this performance lies in an advanced motor capable of spinning at 30,000rpm, setting another record in the mass-production EV sector.

Next-Generation Battery and Semiconductor Technology
The Super e-Platform’s groundbreaking speed is supported by BYD’s Flash Charging Battery, featuring an ultra-fast ion channel from anode to cathode. This allows a maximum charging current of 1,000A and an industry-first charging rate of 10C, another mass-production benchmark.
Further enhancing efficiency, BYD has pioneered the first mass-produced automotive-grade silicon carbide (SiC) power chip rated at 1,500V—the highest voltage rating for any mass-produced SiC chip to date. This semiconductor technology is critical to handling the extreme power flows necessary for megawatt-level charging.
Megawatt Charging Requires Megawatt Infrastructure
Ultra-rapid charging demands an equally powerful infrastructure. BYD has developed an industry-first full liquid-cooled megawatt flash-charging terminal system, capable of delivering a maximum output of 1,360kW.
To scale this technology, BYD plans to construct over 4,000 megawatt flash-charging stations across China. But perhaps more significantly, BYD has introduced a world-first “dual-gun charging” technology that can instantly upgrade existing fast chargers to ultra-fast levels. This “intelligent boost” innovation ensures compatibility with a vast network of public charging stations, vastly improving charging accessibility for EV users worldwide.
Redefining Electric Mobility
The Super e-Platform is more than just an incremental improvement—it is a paradigm shift in electric mobility. By integrating next-generation battery chemistry, advanced semiconductors, and high-voltage architectures, BYD has created a platform that challenges and even surpasses the convenience of combustion-powered vehicles.
With its record-breaking speed, infrastructure-ready compatibility, and commitment to expanding charging networks, BYD’s Super e-Platform marks the dawn of a new era in electrification—one where EVs are no longer bound by charging limitations but instead empowered by speed and convenience.
