On 11 March 2014 more than 300 specialist visitors followed the invitation to attend the opening event of the Unimog Tour 2014 at the Customer Center in Europe’s largest truck plant. Enjoying wonderful weather, they had a first opportunity to follow practical, live demonstrations with the new Euro VI generation of the Unimog implement carrier range.
More than 20 Unimog implement carriers – from the new, compact U 216 to the most powerful variant, the U 530, impressively demonstrated the capabilities of the new implement-carrying specialists in road-sweeping, hedge and green area maintenance, winter service and many other applications that arise in the day-to-day working operations of municipal fleets. In March and April the Unimog Tour 2014 will visit eight further locations thoughout Germany, from Villingen-Schwenningen in the south to Bad Fallingbostel in the north and Schönwalde-Glien in the east. Invitations will be issued by the local Unimog distributors.
Wholly positive responses by the visitors, and also by participating implement manufacturers and bodybuilders such as Mulag, ASH Aebi Schmidt or Zagro, confirm the success of the Unimog Tour: a highly informative day filled with interesting specialist talks, and plenty of time for extended discussions and detailed information. Jan Debler, project manager for the Unimog Tour 2014: “In developing the new model series, we systematically improved the Unimog to meet the needs of our customers. Efficiency and productivity are increased with an extensive model range from the U 216 to the U 530, the powerful and efficient new Euro VI common-rail engines, a new control concept, the EasyDrive synergetic drive system, a new hydraulics concept and extended service intervals. This makes the new implement carriers cost-effectively usable for all municipal duties throughout the year. For heavy-duty off-road operations, for example in firefighting or disaster control, we are also presenting the new, all-terrain U 4023/U 5023 on the Tour.”
The conclusion of Klaus Eckstein, Heizomat GmbH: “I am highly impressed with the versatility of the new Unimog demonstrated here. For us bodybuilders too, it is amazing how much efficiency can be increased with these new implement carriers; Heizomat has often received enquiries for front-mounted wood shredders, and at last we can now offer this configuration.” Christian Sammer of Kahlbacher Machinery GmbH adds: “The Unimog Tour is an important event for all bodybuilders, during which intensive discussions can be held with interested parties in a relaxed atmosphere.” Uwe Fechner of Trilo also values the contact made possible with other bodybuilders: “The organisation and commitment of the personnel is exemplary. It enables us to have a prolonged exchange of views perhaps leading to the efficient combination of systems.” The municipal service team from Bad Keuznach liked the good atmosphere during the demonstrations: “We were able to have many informative conversations away from the usual hustle and bustle of the show, and obtain a lot of new ideas.”
