The 2024 Goodwood Revival concluded in spectacular fashion, merging the nostalgia of classic motorsport with a forward-looking commitment to sustainability. Held at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit, the Revival featured unforgettable racing moments, poignant tributes, and a dazzling roster of motorsports icons—all set against the backdrop of cutting-edge sustainable fuel technology.
A Landmark in Sustainable Motorsport
The 2024 Goodwood Revival set a historic milestone as the first motorsport event of its kind to run entirely on sustainable fuel. The announcement, made in late 2023, mandated all participants to use fuel with at least 70% advanced sustainable components. Goodwood has been pioneering this movement, previously showcasing sustainable fuel during the Fordwater Trophy at the 2023 Revival and in events such as the Ken Miles Cup and the Gordon Spice Trophy. This year’s bold initiative not only preserved the thrill of high-octane racing but also underscored the motorsport industry’s growing commitment to environmental responsibility.
Racing Highlights
Amid unpredictable weather, the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy saw thrilling battles between motorcycling legends, with Michael Russell and Michael Rutter claiming victory on a Norton Velocette MSS. Meanwhile, motorsport greats Dario Franchitti and Jimmie Johnson triumphed in the prestigious Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy, driving an Aston Martin DB4GT. BTCC title contenders Jake Hill and Tom Ingram provided a fierce competition in the RAC TT Celebration, while the Austin J40 pedal-powered Settrington Cup brought its own charm, with Josh Johnston taking the win.
A Roll Call of Motorsports Icons
The Revival welcomed an extraordinary lineup of motorsports legends. Attendees were treated to the presence of motorsports royalty, including 23-time Isle of Man TT winner John McGuinness, nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen, seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson, and four-time IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti. Formula 1 icons like Sir Jackie Stewart and 1997 champion Jacques Villeneuve also graced the event, along with drivers from across the globe, such as Karun Chandhok, Derek Bell, and Jean-Éric Vergne.
Memorable Celebrations and Tributes
This year’s Revival paid tribute to some of the most iconic figures and events in motorsport history. A moving tribute to John Surtees—commemorating 60 years since his Formula 1 World Championship—brought together vehicles from his diverse career, including motorcycles and grand prix-winning cars. The 80th anniversary of D-Day was marked with a powerful parade of over 100 military vehicles, led by Field Marshal Montgomery’s Rolls-Royce Wraith Staff Car, carrying D-Day veterans John Dennett and George Chandler.
In addition, the Meyers Manx dune buggy celebrated its 60th anniversary with a parade of over 100 beach buggies, including the unveiling of the pre-production Meyers Manx 2.0 EV, making its European debut. The Freddie March Spirit of Aviation presented a stunning array of aircraft, with the 1939 Westland Lysander G-CCOM winning ‘Best in Show.’

Revive & Thrive Village: A Celebration of Style and Sustainability
The Revive & Thrive Village continued its mission to inspire sustainable living with workshops and demonstrations focusing on the repair and reuse of iconic designs. Glamour evangelist Dita Von Teese led an all-star lineup, including model David Gandy, designer Patrick Grant, and actress Ruth Gemmell. Visitors explored hands-on craft workshops hosted by TV’s Dominic Chinea and Micaela Sharp, alongside large-scale restoration projects.
Tyrrell Shed Officially Opens
One of the weekend’s highlights was the official opening of the historic Tyrrell Shed to the public, once home to Ken Tyrrell’s Formula 1 team. With Sir Jackie Stewart and Martin Brundle in attendance, visitors had the unique opportunity to witness some of Tyrrell’s legendary creations, including the 001 and 006.
Bonhams|Cars Auction and Immersive Experiences
The Bonhams|Cars auction captivated collectors, with highlights such as a 1998 Porsche 911 Turbo fetching £614,200 and a 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spider selling for £552,000.
