Looking for something beautiful that won’t cost you an arm and a leg? What if we told you that you won’t have to look further than your nearest Alfa dealership to find it?

We’re talking about the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta, quite possibly the most anticipated car to be launched in 2011, despite the fact that the year has just started.

As a piece of automotive design it is without fault. The curvaceous lines are a reminder that one need not give up style and taste in the pursuit of comfort and space. Giulietta can comfortably seat five adult occupants and their luggage, while turning the heads of everyone they pass. All the modern luxury adornments are fitted to the Giulietta. The entry-level Progression offers climate control, Blue&Me connectivity, 6 airbags, stability control, hill holder, Start&Stop and full electric windows, among many other features. Going higher up in the range only adds more luxurious toys for you to play with.

The name “Giulietta” is well known to Alfisti around the world. As such, the new model has a lot to live up to, but Alfa Romeo is optimistic that it will tick all the right boxes.

In terms of performance it definitely sets a new benchmark. Giulietta is fitted with the award winning 1.4 TB turbocharged engine in 88kW (Progression) and patented Multiair 125kW (Distinctive) guises. It doesn’t matter what your needs are, Alfa Romeo has an engine solution that will suit you perfectly.

Enthusiasts will particularly enjoy the Giulietta halo model, the 1750 TBi Quadrifoglio Verde. Some styling and mechanical changes give it a sporty and muscular stance that goes perfectly with the 173kW that the engine delivers. It’ll rocket to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and will keep blasting to a top speed of 242km/h.
You might expect performance figures like these to come with an inevitable fuel penalty, but the use of turbochargers and small displacement engines has virtually wiped out this problem. They may offer the performance associated with much larger engines, but they sip fuel at a much lower rate. Every model in the line-up has a combined fuel consumption figure below 8 l/100 km and in some instances it even falls below 5 l/100km.

As a first for a premium brand, Alfa Romeo offers a five-year 150 000 km warranty on the new Giulietta. Linked to this is a six-year/90 000km service plan for the 1.4-litre models (with service intervals of 30 000km) and a six-year/105 000km service plan for the flagship 1750 TBi which features 35 000km service intervals –a benchmark in the highly contested C-segment class.

88kW 1.4 TB Progression – R243 000 (incl. VAT and emissions tax)
125kW Multiair 1.4 TB Distinctive – R279 900
173kW 1750 TBi Quadrifoglio Verde – R330 275

Experience Alfa Romeo Like Never Before

There’s nothing quite like an Alfa Romeo. Park one in your driveway and the neighbourhood instantly becomes that teeny bit more glamorous. Climb in one and prepare to be seduced by the voluptuous, Italianate dashboard. Drive off in one and experience a little slice of Latin exotica. Marketing hype? Perhaps, but there’s no denying that […]
