Opel ADAM and Mokka scoop top awards
PORT ELIZABETH – The Opel brand received high recognition today in the 2015 Women’s Car of the Year Awards for best car in the hatchback and multipurpose vehicle (MPV) categories.
The stylish Opel ADAM that was introduced to South African consumers in January this year, emerged the winner in the hatchback category while the Opel Mokka, launched in March, gained favour as preferred MPV.
Winning the WOW awards is the second feather in Opel’s cap this year, after the brand was named “Company to watch out for” in Car Magazine’s awards earlier this year.
Brian Olson, General Motors South Africa Vice President of Sales, Service and Marketing said Opel has been performing well in the South African market in the past year, having increased sales by 76% compared to the same time last year.
“Our New Germans, Opel ADAM and Mokka came into the market in 2015, representing excitement, approachability and German Engineering with drive. The coveted Women on Wheels (WOW) Awards (#WOWCOTY) is the only car awards in South Africa that are decided by women. Thousands of votes were cast by WOW readers and combined with the judges’ votes the winning cars in 11 categories have been decided (plus the Overall car of the Year winner).
