GQEBERHA, 24 April 2023 – Amidst growing concerns over fuel costs, ISUZU Motors South Africa in collaboration with Engen, is set to roll out another promising display of fuel-efficient vehicles at their upcoming event. Building on the momentum of last year’s success, the event will spotlight the new Isuzu MU-X 1.9 TD LS, renowned for its cost-effectiveness.
Scheduled for 27-30 April 2024, the 1 Tank Challenge will see a convoy of Isuzu MU-X 1.9 TD LS SUVs, driven by select media representatives, embarking on a journey from Johannesburg to Gqeberha via East London. The vehicles, fueled by Engen Dynamic Diesel with Pro Drive, aim to complete the route on just one tank of fuel, emphasizing their economical fuel usage and potential cost savings.
Kevin Fouché, ISUZU’s Executive in Product Planning and Programme Management, expressed excitement about this year’s event, promising an enhanced experience of endurance and efficiency. “We’re pushing the envelope on what our vehicles can achieve in terms of fuel economy and overall performance,” he stated.
Engen’s Dynamic Diesel with Pro Drive is engineered to optimize engine performance while minimizing emissions, according to Adnaan Emeran, Manager of Marketing Business Development at Engen. “Our fuel not only ensures a smoother drive but also boosts fuel economy significantly,” Emeran added.
The Isuzu MU-X 1.9 TD LS boasts a 1,899 cc turbodiesel engine that delivers robust power and torque, packaged in a stylish, comfortable SUV with advanced safety features through the Isuzu Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The challenge also aims to underline the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and preparation, especially for long-distance travel.
